What is New This Semester?

There are not many changes in our work principles this semester, so whenever you need assistance with my policies you can consult our fall syllabus. However, there is something new that you need to consider:

A) PORTFOLIO – all your individual work, vocabulary sheets, dialogues, cards, projects, tests and dictations with your corrected mistakes should be collected together and kept in order, so that by the end of the semester you could submit your work for me to check. A good portfolio can make your examination process much easier.

You submit your portfolio in two forms: the hardcopy one (with tests, dictations and other hand-written works, without presentations) + the electronic version (with presentations). The electronic version represents a file with all your semester work grouped around our main topics on a flashcard. The name of the file should contain your surname, your group and the current year.

B) CARDS and DIALOGUES – all your cards and dialogues should be typed and printed this semester. Hand-written cards can go for the class in an emergency case, but should be typed afterwards.

C) YOUR OWN TESTS – for each topic you will submit a test of 10 questions, training vocabulary or prepositions. The questions may be closed-type (one sentence, one missed word, four variants to fill the gap), open-type (fill in the gap with the necessary word) or matching type (match the words and the sentences). This activity is aimed at your developing the skills of test-making; the best tests will also help the department to check the future generations, so release your fantasy to let them sweat!

The tests must be submitted electronically only.

D) WORKING THROUGH THE WEBSITE – the university has started to develop its own online course system, so this semester we are going to work it through. I will not send you the materials to your e-mails anymore; I will ask you to register in this electronic system and will upload the course materials there. Though it may be inconvenient at first (and I do apologize for this), it will make us one step closer to a more modern, efficient and environment-friendly way of work. Thank you for your cooperation.
